Don’t forget to love you

I think I understand why the world is messed up

A foundational teaching is to love your neighbor as you love yourself

And here in lays the disconnect

How can I love you

When loving me is like a traveller in a foreign land

unable to articulate needs

I want to love you

But that love is locked up in

Shells of insecurity and fear
So don’t forget to love you

Every curve

Every blemish in your skin
Don’t forget to love every facet of your being

Because once you remember to love you

Then you can learn to love me
